Last night Regi did something that astounded me! It was 7.45pm and I needed to go and do the shopping.
Due to yet more wobbly tooth trauma she was struggling to eat anymore dinner and was very hungry and didn’t know what to do with herself. We talked various options for said evil tooth but everything was too anxiety inducing resulting in several curl up into a ball and cry moments.
Therefore, it was just not acceptable for me to leave the house. She held onto me, grasped onto the buggy (yes I use our old buggy to go shopping, it’s easier than a trolley), put toys in the buggy, generally anything to prevent me leaving. Eventually she said she wanted to come with me. This is the part that shocked me! Once I agreed she raced upstairs to put on trousers and socks – when getting dressed is on her own agenda it’s at lightning pace. I let her keep her off brand oodie on for the adventure.
Shopping was delightful. No moaning, no groaning, she helped me with my list – in fact – took charge of said list very seriously.
Of course I needed to accept that a few cheeky things were going to be added, she’s now the proud owner of a litre of salted caramel milkshake, and a Beano magazine.
Getting to the till amused me. She again took charge of placing the items on the conveyor belt with meticulous precision, and at the end of placing everything just so, announced loudly with pride “Tetris!” I wasn’t allowed to stack anything on top of anything, all a single layer. She wasn’t impressed that I asked the bottles be laid flat because it didn’t look as good.
Job done!
